Archive -- OPEN DAY 2007

Saturday August 25 2007 was a great day out in the Garden,

a short report is combined with the photos below

The day started as usual with a bird walk, this year led by local birdos Joan Schwennesen & Brian Parton. (That's "Dolly" on the left above - recognisable by his unique headgear). To the right, Ross & Daniel Begent discuss warblers and gerygones with Joan.

Left: Jen McCormack & Mim Hirst discuss the children's art display. Right: Alex Pechey of Glenmorgan State School beside some of the Glenmorgan works.

Something for everyone - on the left, guest speaker Andrew Burnside from Cedar Hills Flowers & Foliage on the Sunshine Coast spoke about growing native plants for the floriculture industry, and to the right, some of John Haken's vintage car collection, Glenmorgan's newest attraction.

Once again, a good lunch was a feature of the day - left, Kylie McLean of Villacoola Winery, Surat, serves Sandra Schwennesen, and right - barrista Libby McLean at work.

Excellent musical entertainment was provided during the lunch break by Miles musos 40Zone, and at other times by a succession of enthusiasts trying their style on our thongaphone!

The sandpit is a new attraction, and an obvious success. Next attraction for the littlies will be the "secret garden" -- just as soon as we can grow the plants for it!

Many visitors enjoyed seeing the Garden with Living Collection Manager, Gill Kidd - to share some of their experiences, go to "What's flowering in August"
